Journey
Finally, stepped into a gym after almost a year. I was terrified of going to the gym when COVID was at its peak. And, resistance bands weren’t doing me any good. Lifting heavy weights gives a different pleasure that I finally experienced after soooo long. Hoping to hit that gym at least 5 times a week. Also, tried listening to a cool audiobook at the gym, instead of loud rock music. I liked it. Will experiment with it.
Insight
I love how influencers are creating businesses these days.
David Dobrik recently came up with a new social media photo-sharing app called Dispo.
It was hard for me to comprehend how is it different until I read this –
“What’s so amazing about Dispo is that you’re having a great time, you snap a quick photo. You don’t see it until the next day, and then you can wake up and relive all those memories the following day and be like, ‘Oh my gosh, I had such a great time,’ instead of trying to fixate on that moment while you’re trying to live in the moment. That doesn’t work. So just trying to embrace the whole live in the moment, capturing the moment and then continue to live in the moment. Don’t just be fixated on getting that perfect photo and whatnot.” — Natalie Mariduena, Co-founder of Dispo.
Basically, returning to old-school approach of photo taking and sharing.
With the following David has built on YouTube, Dispo shot to fame and became the fourth most downloaded app on the AppStore in a week.
Another story. This one is by The Hustle –
In October 2018, 2 former NHL players (Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette) did an ad read for their popular Barstool Sports hockey podcast, Spittin’ Chiclets.
The podcast’s featured sponsor, New Amsterdam Vodka, gave the pair a simple prompt: “What do you drink your vodka with?”
With a completely straight face, Whitney — a professional athlete who is 6’4” and weighs 210 lbs. — said he drinks vodka with “pink lemonade,” and added that anyone with “any brains” or “any sort of confidence” would understand his choice.
Within days of the podcast, fans were tweeting their makeshift pink lemonade and vodka concoctions.
